I often respond to people with “I’ll message when there’s a spot open, there are X many people in front of you” and then I can use that number to keep track in the message history. I’ve gotten better at it over time but I often have a notebook and I’m writing down who messaged in what order and checking people off. Hosting can be super stressful because it’s hard to keep track of everyone, try and be fair about how you invite people, try to stay on top of people chatting in the game (why doesn’t it make a notification noise?) etc. This post isn't necessarily to discourage people from hosting Celeste, rather it's more to give people an idea of what to expect. Luckily didn't have anyone steal anything or do anything like that, but still, it was so exhausting getting people in and out to see that pink-bowed owl. I ended up inviting people only to find that they came and left 10 minutes earlier, I was messaging people out of order, I got a lot of people messaging me wondering where their code was, people were hanging around to wish on stars instead of just going, etc. It all just culminated into one big mess. It also meant that I had to keep switching screens between my computer and my console, so for the majority of the time i was AFK, having no idea what was going on at my island. This meant that in order to contact people I had to send them a message through their user profile rather than through chat, which meant it took a lot longer to send people dodo codes. Im guessing you can only message a max number of people per day? I honestly didn't have a clue about that (rip). That was until I tried messaging the next person to come and reddit, for some strange reason, wouldn't let me. Making sure to frantically invite the next person over when a person left. Now initially I was just about able to handle it. Since I felt bored I shoved persuaded her to my airport and fenced her in, before doing a post on Reddit opening my island up to Celeste, thinking (naively) that I'd just get a few comments here and there.įor people who aren't sure what it's like when you post to reddit opening your island to celeste, it's a little bit like 6PM on a black Friday night. So an hour ago I saw Celeste had visited my island and I had a light meteor shower. There are some amazing responses and advice in the comments section for people new to hosting! Thanks everyone! :)
